The project is located in an old school compound, in a very dense part of town with improper infrastructure.  We were asked to design a sports hall right above the open playground. This playground is the only open public space in the entire neighborhood where children of the nearby areas went go to play. We couldn’t just take it from them without finding a replacement for the open lost spaces.

Although the requirements were to raise the hall and use the existing ground level as parking ground, this would have made the building too high for its surroundings.

We chose instead to place it partially underground and make its roof as low as possible to be able to use it as a public area and compensate for the lost playground.

A long twisting ramp takes pedestrians up to the roof,  it connects different levels and halfway it reaches an Amphitheatre overlooking the street, along the walk the glass facades to the side of the ramp gives views of the hall’s interior and the activity inside.

On the roof there will be a garden, open basketball courts, running route, and sitting and play areas. It would the first park in the town's centre.

This project is a fine example to how we can transform fixed building types, types that are known as being stagnant and one dimensional, into more flexible  spaces.  These spaces can then serve as an infrastructure for different activities happening simultaneously. In this way it can help to create rich urban spaces so lacking in these towns and cities.
